VLOG no 07 – Flying home from Lanzarote – part 2

This is the second part of the way home from Lanzarote. Part 1 is here. There is not much to add to this, the video will speak for itself. Take-off at sunset was breathtaking. I hope you’ll enjoy it.

VLOG no 5 part 1 – Flying home from Lanzarote

This is the video of our flight home from Arrecife. Taking off at sunset and visiting the cockpit. The music is by our good friend, Soliquid, I’ve put a link for download in the video description. I think this is the longest video I have ever edited. No going to lie, it took me 3 hours and it is really far from perfect, but I think this is a huge milestone in my video life.

VLOG no4 – Lanzarote D05 – A trip to Fuerteventura

For day 5 we took the boat and went across to see Fuerteventura. It was great, although we didn’t really leave Corralejo and we figured that this may not be the prettiest beach on the island. Nevertheless, it was still a great day, an amazing beach with white sand and lovely turquoise water. See it for yourself.

VLOG no3 – Lanzarote D04

This is the third day of the Our Life Challenge. This is the third ”vlog” entry. This is the gist of the 4th day we spent in Lanzarote. I am now revisiting the excuse I made for not having created a video for day 2, as day 4 wasn’t that hugely exciting either. I think this will be the hardest thing for me moving forward with the Our Life Challenge, accepting that our life is not that much exciting all the time. We’re average and normal. I think…

So this is day 4. Excuse our not so perfect beach bodies and the Husband’s haircut.

Okay.

This is a story I have to tell: so we went to this hairdressing place they recommended at reception. There was this really weird looking guy (half long-half short hair, very skinny jeans, platform sandals) and a 30 ish lady. Luck guided Csabi (husband) to this guy and he was worried first, but I told him to take his appearance as a sign of his creativity. We can call this creativity, or misinterpreted art? Well, yes, Csabi ended up with the worst haircut in the history of mankind. Not going back there again.

So yeah, enjoy the show 🙂

VLOG no2 – Lanzarote D03 – The cruise

So, I know my numbering seems a bit all over the place, but nothing, and I mean nothing happened on day 2. Sooo I decided to skip it entirely and use a footage that is slightly more interesting. On day 3, thanks to my husband’s geniusness we went on a boat cruise. But this wasn’t just any boat cruise, it was the Chill Out Cruise. How is this different from other cruises? First of all, there is really a limited amount of people allowed on board, so if you are with a few of your friends it’s pretty much a private boat. Second, there is no real agenda: you sail off, then stop and you can do whatever while they grill your lunch. Booze is unlimited. Oh and they provide all the equipment, like, for snorkeling or surfing. It’s pretty much just a day out on a boat. We loved it. Here’s how much. Oh if you have the option to watch it in HD, do that. 😉

*disclaimer: I did not receive compensation for promoting this cruise, nor was I asked to do this video in any way. We just really liked it.

VLOG no1 – Lanzarote D01

So I started with a lie. 2 lies. This is not yet a VLOG entry. And this is not day one. Officially. Because we arrived a day earlier. I’ll call that day zero.

Anyways. We went to Lanzarote for our official annual holiday. Unfortunately without the cats. But! We had our lovely friends (pictured on the back on this very tasteful photograph)

car

taking care of them in our house for 11 days. Or 10? Not sure. ANYWAYS, here is a video from day 1 of our holiday and this is the the first post of the 100 day ‘Our life’ challenge.

9 months

This is the amount of time I spent neglecting this blog. Since the 100 happy days challenge I didn’t really do anything with it. I realized the 100 happy days challenge worked because I had to do it every day! I couldn’t just stop half way. So I’m going to do this again. Every day I will share something personal about us.

There will be a mix of things to keep me going:

  • VLOG – video content of our adventures with and without the cats
  • Dear Diary – some diary type written content
  • Around me – pictures of everyday things I see and find meaningful in some way

So this is it. For the next 100 days this is the ‘Our life’ series, starting today. What I’m hoping to gain by the end of it, is a decision on which creative path to follow.

Decision post. Done.

The Frugal Wedding – Ordering dresses online

Now this has little to do with the cats, but all to do with my life, so it has to have a place on the blog. During the 100 happy days challenge I got engaged to the only man that puts up with me, and started organizing our wedding. Luckily I got a wedding planner I was referred to by my newly reunited all time friend.
However, there are things that can’t or better not be organized by your planner. Dresses are a good example. I have been looking around bridal shops in Brussels, but I didn’t find anything I really liked. Read hundreds of articles about how to choose the perfect dress for my body type (let’s just call me very compact) and looked at a 1000 dresses online. There are shapes I’d love, but can’t imagine wearing. Since I’m not huge, most of the fluffy dresses would pretty much swallow me but I loved huge and fluffy dresses. I wanted lace, I didn’t want lace..
One thing was certain; I did not want to break the bank. Some say being frugal at your wedding means you are not ready to invest in your marriage, but I simply think this is stupid. I’m just not ready to spend a 1000 Euros on something I will wear once. (No, no one gets married in the same dress for the second time.)
So I did my research and figured, the cheapest option is to order online. Mainly from China. After seeing horrible images of dresses you can actually receive from China I was somewhat cautious but still very curious. Some sites would include pictures of actual dresses they sent out. Dressilyme or Lightinthebox are good examples. And there are also Etsy shops. Yes. You can order a handmade wedding dress from Etsy. I found LaceMarry there, and I was tempted to order from her for weeks! Actually, even after ordering a wedding dress already I’m still very tempted.
I finally ended up ordering my dress from Chi Chi, a small shop in London and it turned out to be fantastic quality. I will upload some pictures after the wedding and you can all get into shock about the less than a 100 EUR price tag.
After gaining confidence from this order, I decided the bridesmaid dresses will come from online, too. I first wanted to get those from Chi Chi, too, but thanks to me daily visits of those Chinese clothes retailers an ad popped up. The perfect bridesmaid dresses. Out of nowhere. So after thinking about all the horror dresses I could get, I still decided to order. 69.99 each. Bargain.
And did they turn out okay?
Let the pictures speak for themselves. Ordered from Lightinthebox.

Important: if you are in Europe you’ll have to pay extra customs duties. You can buy Tax and Customs insurance at checkout. Totally worth it. Once you send them the confirmation of the duties paid they will reimburse the amount. They reply within 12 hours. Actually impressed!
